Students from around Australia hope to attend the National Union of Students 'Education Conference' in Brisbane this year, in order to launch a student campaign against AUKUS.

We believe that AUKUS, rather than being a deterrent, drives us closer toward war. Hundreds of billions are being spent on nuclear submarines, which could instead be spent on raising welfare payments, fixing the healthcare system, or building public housing. Our universities are increasingly being used for research and training for the AUKUS submarines. War with China would cost hundreds of thousands, or even millions of lives - if we don't want this we need to stop AUKUS!

Students played an important role in the campaign against the Vietnam war. We believe that the National Union of Students could play an important role in resisting the drive toward the next war.
